I admit it – I thoughtlessly took my eye off the cheese. And yes it has brought me here………..
I have worked at the same level in my career now for 11 years. I manage a lot of money. I manage a lot of buildings. I manage a lot of people. I thought I was good at managing change. Then the cheese moved.
The end of 2010 brought my self confidence to a screaming halt. I let my insecurities and my idea that everything was going well and would stay the same turn things upside down. I let a professional issue become a personal issue.
I made the large mistake of yelling & cursing like a crazy fish wife at two of the people I manage and acted extremely unprofessionally. I realised the impact of what I had done immediately and contacted my boss. I cried and cried and thought I would get the sack from my job.
But I knew that there was something that had brought me to that point and I saw my doctor to get some expert help.
All this 7 days before I was having some major surgery, 15 days before Christmas and right before my vacation was due to start. Yeah right, it was going to be an enjoyable few weeks – NOT!!
This quote, “What does not destroy me, makes me strong. [Or, What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.]” (Friedrich Neitzche Quotes), was about to really become major part of my life in my quest to change.
The cheese had moved for all of us and we had taken our eyes off it. Now I had to find it again.
Tune in for how I found the cheese,
What hasn’t killed this tree has obviously made it stronger! A fine example of a beautiful Aussie gum tree holding its own.
